Experience: I have been spinning for 14 years. I started at the age of 15 doing parties for my mates but then progressed into full mobile DJing, using a couple of Synergy CD Decks, a cheap mixer and some Soundlab direct drive turntables.
When I started college I was putting on my own nights in the Students Union bar and eventually became the regular Saturday night DJ under the name of DJ Enigma.
I updated my equipment to a pair of Technic 1210 Mk II's, Numark CD decks and a Pioneer DJ600 mixer and then attended the Technics DJ Academy in Manchester on the 6 month night course and off the back of that gained a residency in the Footage bar on Oxford Road every wednesday night. Also played various bars and clubs such as Berlin's, Crow Bar, Bar 10 to name but a few.
Didn't do much DJ'ing for a few years after however I got put in touch with someone who needed a DJ for a 30th birthday party at Woodley Sports & Social club and did it as a favour, but got asked by the club manager if I would do some more nights that he had lined up. I soon became the resident and worked there for 2 years whenever there was a booking.
When the manager left the social club to set up a bar, he asked if I would go with him and be the resident there (then called the Wagon & Horses) which I did, every Friday & Saturday. He closed the bar for a refurb for a period of about 2 months and re-opened it as the Woodley Arms. I have been doing the Friday night spot in this bar for the last 2 and a half years and it is currently the biggest night in the town regularly packing out the bar till the early hours.
I have been using Virtual DJ to mix digitally for the last two years as well as continue to use the CD's but not the turntables so much.
My Virtual DJ setup is an Intel Pentium DualCore runing 3GB of RAM, nVidia 9600GTX graphics card and WindowsXP pro as it doesn't hog resources like Vista!! :)
