Experience: I've had turntables since the age of 5 (1985). I used vinyl up until 2005. I now use Serato (56+SL1, 57, SL3) with 1200s. I also own the VCI 300 and NS7.
My current TRUE residency is for Adidas (in-store DJ). I also rotate clubs and corporate events as well as typical mobile events. I don't like to spin at one spot EVERY WEEK with the same people and the same set list. I like to keep it fresh and exciting by playing different venues. I also spin online http://stickam.com/serato to really flex skills you can't do too much in the club (scratching, juggling, etc.).
Some mixes are available at http://deeznotes.com (I am hesitant to post new mixes because I've been told DJs have been stealing them). I teach other DJs in my spare time (techniques and Serato). I beta test equipment for various manufacturers on a regular basis.
In my 9-5 I am a Computer Engineer. DJing is not my primary source of income, but it is something I will do for the rest of my life because I love it. When it became "a job" for me, I didn't love it as much. Having a 9-5 and DJing different clubs in DC-Baltimore allows me to continue to LOVE DJing with a passion.
