Mission Statement
WorkSessions' mission is to promote music worldwide by servicing DJs and music industry professionals with content from major and independent record labels for the purpose of marketing artists and songs therefore increasing record label revenues.
Who We Are
WorkSessions is a music promotions company. We are like a modeling agency. However, instead of connecting clothing labels with models, we connect record labels with DJs.
In case you have stumbled onto our website by accident, please note that WorkSessions is NOT a music store. We do not sell songs, and we do not service the general public with music. If you are looking to purchase music online for personal use, we recommend popular stores like iTunes and Amazon.
We first started out as a vinyl record pool back in early 2002. Labels would send us mass amounts of 12-inch records, and we would ship these promotional items to all of our subscribing DJs. Eventually, record labels also started sending us CD-singles, and we forwarded these to our DJs as well.
Today, most DJs use digital formats to play music on the radio, at nightclubs and at various venues. The days of mixing and scratching vinyl records and CDs are almost completely behind us. Software like Serato and Final Scratch have made it easy for DJs to play all of their songs from a single laptop rather than carrying five heavy crates of vinyl records to every DJ gig.
The fact that music is now promoted digitally is a win-win scenario for both DJs and record labels. By far the greatest benefit of digital promotions is amount of money record labels save on shipping costs alone. The price record labels pay to promote songs via digital distribution is minute compared to the cost of shipping boxes of CD-singles and vinyl records to hundreds of different addresses worldwide.
